The Belgian goalkeeper was expected back to training with the Premier League club on Monday, having been given an extended break following his exploits at the World Cup in Russia. But while international team-mate Eden Hazard has returned to the Blues this week – despite also being linked with a move to the Bernabeu – Courtois stayed away. And he was missing for the second day running on Tuesday, as the team continued their preparations for their Premier League opener against Huddersfield this weekend.Reports have claimed that Courtois has decided to stay in Belgium while his future is resolved, having travelled back to his homeland to celebrate the Red Devils’ bronze-medal finish at the World Cup.But the goalkeeper appeared to be rumbled on social media on Monday, as a picture surfaced on Twitter of the Chelsea man in a supermarket in Tenerife. Reports in Spain have claimed Chelsea will look to trigger Jan Oblak’s €100m release clause to bring the Atletico Madrid No.1 to west London, should Courtois depart.Former Liverpool glovesman Pepe Reina has also been linked as a possible short-term replacement, while a £25m move for Stoke City’s England goalkeeper Jack Butland has been mooted.center_img Thibaut Courtois is still yet to return to Chelsea Chelsea have been linked with a record-breaking move for Jan Oblak 2last_img
