Pen Down: Lily Allen No Longer Attached to Bridget Jones’s Diary Musical

first_imgv. disappointing. British pop star Lily Allen is no longer attached as composer to the upcoming Bridget Jones’s Diary musical adaptation, as previously reported back in 2010. According to The Sun, the tuner, penned by original book author Helen Fielding, is still in the works, though a new songwriting collaborator has not been announced. Bridget Jones was first introduced in a series of newspaper columns by Fielding, which she used as the basis for three novels. A mini-Hollywood franchise followed, with two films starring Oscar winner Renee Zellweger as the unlucky-in-love British career girl. The tuner was originally slated for a 2011 opening in London. At the time of its original announcement, Allen, known for her chart-topping album Alright, Still, It’s Not Me, It’s You and, most recently, Sheezus, had written just one song for the show. “I wrote some great music for it,” said Allen, “but [Fielding] wants to go back and write a whole new story. It’s been a long-term project and I was happy to do my bit, but now I’m out of the picture.” View Commentslast_img
